WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON PROBLEMS WITH AIR CONDITIONERS?

Air conditioning is one of the most important inventions in history, and it's no surprise that repairs can be pricey.

Even though air conditioners seem like an essential appliance for homes and businesses, they do have their share of problems. Constant wear-and tear can be costly to repair or replace depending on the age your system is in need if some major repairs are needed!

It is also important to learn about common air conditioning problems in order to take preventive measures to avoid having costly needed repairs to your AC.

Here are some of the most common problems with air conditioners that you might have to deal with

1. Air Conditioner is not Working or Turning On

The thermostat is the key to your home's cool air. Make sure it’s turned on and set at a temperature where you want, or need for that matter!

There are many reasons why your air conditioner might not be working. If the circuit breaker is tripped, try resetting it with an overturning motion of the switch off and then on again to see if this solves the problem!

You can also call a repair company like Air Condition Repair Company- they'll come out as soon as possible so that everything's back up running smoothly in no time at all

2. Refrigerant Leak

Refrigerant in Air Conditioners is used to remove heat and humidity from the air. When refrigerant starts leaking in the refrigerant lines, the unit does not perform properly, and the temperature starts to fluctuate.

A refrigerant leak can cause various problems like

- Irregular Cooling

- Low efficiency

- Freezing of coil

- Damage to the compressor

Simply adding refrigerant does not automatically make up for any leaks in an AC system—The technician needs to find the leak area, repair holes in lines and charge your system with correct amount of refrigerant. This process can be complex or time consuming depending on how many leaks there are!

In case of a refrigerant leak, get your AC checked by professionals as soon as possible.

3. Frozen Evaporator Coil

It is important to recognize a frozen evaporator coil which is supposed to be cold but not freezing.

The freezing of the evaporator coil is caused from a problem with the airflow, and the air conditioner does not receive enough air required to properly function. The evaporator coil gets too cold, eventually ice starts building up on the surface.

A frozen evaporator coil can make the freezer stop working and make your AC freeze up. A frozen evaporator coil is usually caused from dirty filters, blocked ducts, vents, or a broken fan.

Having a clean air filter is optimal in order to enhance airflow and indoor air quality. You can clean the AC filters yourself or call professionals for help.

4. Drainage Problem

All the humidity and moisture that your Air conditioner removes from the air is removed from space through the drain line into a pan and then down a drain. It is common for the drain pipeline to get clogged with dust, debris, and algae.

If the line or drain gets clogged, the water can back up and cause damage to the system. It also causes mold, fungus, and mildew, to grow causing foul odors to linger into your home.

In order to prevent this, make sure that the drain line is regularly inspected, cleaned, and maintained. When there is humidity outside, check the condensate drain to ensure that it’s not clogged and appropriately drained.

5. Sensor Problem

The role of the thermostat is to measure the temperature of air coming in the evaporating coil and then adjust the cooling based on humidity and temperature of the room.

You can find the thermostat sensor behind the control panel, near the evaporator coil in the air conditioner.

If the sensor is knocked out of the position, it will interfere with the cycle. The sensor should not be touching the coil. Regulate the sensor by winding the wire that grips it in a particular position.
