The History of Trailside Park, Located in Ashburn VA

Located in the Ashburn area, Trailside Park is home to a gorgeous, nature-filled 19-acre park. This place is one of the few places in the area that offers not just one, but two recreational parks for families to enjoy!  Trailside Park is the second recreational park to be built in the area after the original Ashburn Park.  Originally designed for a single trail, the park’s layout has since been expanded to accommodate two new trails: the Brooke Trail and the Hanging Rock Trail.  All three trails offer hikers scenic views of the surrounding area and a chance to enjoy the natural beauty of the park. In addition to the three trails, Trailside Park also has an outdoor amphitheater, an outdoor pavilion, a picnic area, and a playground.  Trailside Park is located at 1201 Ashburn Rd, Ashburn, VA 23228. The park is open sunrise – sunset daily.

In addition to being home to two trails, Trailside Park is a great place for your family to enjoy the outdoors.  This park offers nature lovers an opportunity to explore and learn about the plants and animals that live in the area. Here you can find different types of flowers, trees, and bushes that are native to this region. In addition, you can find trees that are used for their acorns, like oaks and chestnuts.  If you love the outdoors, then Trailside Park is a great place for you and your family to spend time exploring nature. You'll also have access to a variety of recreation facilities including an outdoor amphitheater, an outdoor pavilion, a picnic area, and a playground as well as three different trails!

Trailside Park is located at 1201 Ashburn Rd, Ashburn, VA 23228. The park is open sunrise – sunset daily. To get to Trailside Park from the Beltway or I-66 in Northern Virginia, take Route 7 south to Route 704 (Ashburn Road).  From here, it’s just a short drive down to the park.

When visiting Trailside Park, the best time to hike is between April 1st and September 15th. During that time, the Hanging Rock Trail is open during daylight hours only. In addition to a trail going up the mountain, the Hanging Rock Trail also has a rock-climbing section located at the top of the mountain.  The Brooke Trail is open day and night (except for when it’s closed during hunting season) and includes an easy-to-moderate trail that goes around most of the park. The trail also includes a number of overlooks, benches, and other areas for hikers to stop along the way. Trailside Park offers multiple ways for people to explore their nature-filled surroundings!  This park is perfect for families looking for recreational activities in Ashburn Virginia!

The Trailside Park Kids’ Playground is a space specifically designed for your kids. You can expect to find slides, swings, and climbing equipment, as well as a sandbox with an attached water sprayer. In addition to the playground, you can also find space for soccer or baseball games on the park grounds. With access to multiple parks in this area and only one mile away from Ashburn High School, this place is perfect for families!  If your kids love walking around outside and playing in nature, Trailside Park is the perfect place for them to spend their time.
